I had two Ph.D. advisors; I am one of the twelve descendants of Herbert W. Hethcote and one of the 5 descendants of James Mac Hyman. Interestingly, the practice of having two advisors was fairly common in the 19th century. Some of the famous mathematicians in my lineage include Lagrange, Euler, Poisson, Fourier, Bernoulli, Dirichlet, Lipschitz, Hilbert, Klein, and more. Below is a piece of my genealogy, click on the image to see the full size image. My husband helped me put it together using the Mathematics Genealogy Grapher, which it's a software tool to gather information for building math genealogy trees with data from the Mathematics Genealogy Project.
