The parts of the SVDMAN software package developed at Los Alamos National Laboratory (svdman.cc, svdtool.cc, svd.h) are freely distributable under the terms of the license. Please read the license file linked to this section of the documentation for a description of the license. This license allows for both commercial and non-commercial use and distribution. Please contact svdman@lanl.gov for all questions regarding the software.
The parts of the SVDMAN software package not developed at Los Alamos National Laboratory (CLAPACK and LIBF77 components) are distributed under different terms. LIBF77 may be freely distributed, but the corresponding copyright message must be distributed with the package (see the libf77.a documentation). The following message concerning licensing of LAPACK is in the LAPACK FAQ at www.netlib.org:
1.2) Are there legal restrictions on the use of LAPACK software? LAPACK is a freely-available software package. It is available from netlib via anonymous ftp and the World Wide Web. Thus, it can be included in commercial software packages (and has been). We only ask that proper credit be given to the authors. Like all software, it is copyrighted. It is not trademarked, but we do ask the following: If you modify the source for these routines we ask that you change the name of the routine and comment the changes made to the original. We will gladly answer any questions regarding the software. If a modification is done, however, it is the responsibility of the person who modified the routine to provide support.
We could find no clear reference to the authors of LAPACK. For the time being, in order to credit the authors, we refer to the netlib site: www.netlib.org/lapack/index.html. Follow the links to the LAPACK manual for some authorship creadits.
