Radiation Hydrodynamics
Principal Collaborators: Jim E. Morel and Jim Warsa (CCS-4)
Our research in Radiation Hydrodynamics is focused on several issues:
- Develop material-motion corrections that are appropriate
for numerical discretizations.
- Develop new discretizations that ensure the
equilibrium-diffusion limit, yet are also accurate in optically
thin regimes.
- Investigate efficient timestepping schemes that use a full nonlinear
treatment of all implicit terms, as opposed to
linearizations such as operator-splitting.
The hope is that much larger timesteps may be taken without
sacrificing accuracy.
